State Of Emergency Declared In Mount Pleasant

VALHALLA, N.Y. - Mount Pleasant Town Supervisor Joan Maybury declared a state of emergency Monday morning due to Hurricane Sandy. 

The town has set up a shelter at Town Hall in Valhalla with cots, food and water. Pets are welcome. 

All residents are being advised to stay indoors and avoid downed trees and power lines at all costs. To report any electrical problems, residents should call Con Edison at 1-800-752-6633. To report downed trees or wires, residents should call the Mount Pleasant Police Department at 914-769-1941. Residents should only call 911 in the event of an emergency.
