On Monday morning, the Joint Wastewater Treatment Plant issued an alert for Westchester County residents following a discharge at the Mount Kisco Pump Station Force Main into the grassy area on the east side of the roadway, affecting the right shoulder of the northbound parkway.

According to officials, there was a pipe break, possibly due to damage caused from nearby construction activity in the area. The discharge lasted for approximately an hour and an estimated 100,000 gallons of untreated sewage spilled. Flow has since been diverted to a second pipe in the main.
