Pleasantville Police Investigate Gas Tank Mischief

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The Pleasantville Police Department responds to a variety of emergency calls and reports throughout the village.  This activity is listed in the department’s police blotter.  Here is some information about recent occurrences in the blotter from the past week.

On Friday, January 13, a 61 year old Cortlandt Manor resident reported criminal mischief done to his 2002 Honda Insight parked in the Cooley Street lot behind the Pleasantville Post Office.  The resident parked his car around 3 p.m. Friday and returned around 10 p.m. that night to find his gas tank door opened and the gas cap on the ground near his car.  He then reported that when he went to turn his car on, the engine stalled.  The car was subsequently towed out of the lot and is being examined by a local mechanic.  Officers believe that an unknown liquid was poured into the tank and the incident is currently being investigated.  No arrest has been made.

On January 14, a resident at 427 Bedford Road in Pleasantville reported that a wall anchor for a chain that blocks the entrance to a garage at that location was ripped off the wall.  The incident is under investigation and no arrest has been made

A Pleasantville Department of Public Works worker reported to the Pleasantville Police Department on January 13 that a street sign located on King Street appeared to be intentionally damaged.  The incident is under investigation and no arrest has been made

In total, the Pleasantville Police Department has responded to 56 calls over the past week.
