Musicians 26 and younger who live in Westchester, Putnam, Rockland, Bergen, Fairfield and the Bronx are invited to submit digital samples or links to online videos of two original songs to battle@pleasantvillemusicfestival.com by Sunday, April 12. Complete rules and regulations are available at pleasantvillemusicfestival.com/battle. Winners will open this year's festival on July 11 at noon, with a full-out rock band performing on the Beer Garden Stage and a less-intense soloist, duo or band performing on the Chill Tent Stage.
A specially selected committee will judge submissions and invite 20 acts, 10 Beer-Stage-worthy and 10 Chill-Stage-worthy, to participate in a live semi-final performance on either May 9 or May 17 at MTK Tavern in Mt. Kisco. Eight finalists (four for each stage) will be chosen to perform at Lucy's Lounge in Pleasantville on May 31. Westchester County is home to a great live music scene and MTK Tavern and Lucy's host fantastic musicians on a regular basis. The Pleasantville Music Festival is proud to team up with both of these rocking venues.
The Pleasantville Music Festival has been committed since 2005 to showcasing original local talent, along with world-class headliners, legends and breakout stars. The Battle of the Bands allows musicians 26 and younger to compete in their own category against musicians of similar age and experience. All songs must be original. Cover songs will not be considered. Now in its 10th year working with its media sponsor 107.1 The Peak and 11th year over all, the Festival is a must-attend summer event for friends and family, food and drink, a warm positive vibe, and, of course, world-class rock. The Pleasantville Music Festival is New York's Backyard Jam.
