PLEASENTVILLE, N.Y. – The Toll Brothers’ 68-townhouse project on Washington Avenue in Pleasantville received final approval from the Planning Commission on Wednesday, Dec. 10, after nearly two years of review by the village, The Examiner reports.

The Toll Brothers' project is meant to use empty business space on the east side of Washington Avenue for residential buildings.

With commission member Scott Blasdell absent, the resolution to approve the project passed 5-1, according to the report.

The lone dissenting vote came from commission member Joseph Potenza, who criticized the village board for approving the zoning changes needed for the 18-acre site, which was last used as an office campus, to accommodate the residential project, the report states.

Potenza claims the board’s decision was influenced by tax variables rather than sound planning principals, according to the report.
