Pleasantville Board Encourages Countywide Ban On Plastic Bags

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. -- The Pleasantville village Board of Trustees wants county legislators to ban retail use of single-use plastic bags in Westchester County, according to a story on theexaminernews.com.

The legislation, introduced by County Legislator Catherine Parker, D-Rye, would curtail the use of both plastic bags found in supermarkets and retailers and Styrofoam carryout cups, the story said.

The Pleasantville board's resolution urges communities to vote in favor, citing responsible environmental stewardship for keeping Westchester green, the story said. The resolution passed, 4-1, with Mindy Berard casting the only "no" vote, the story said.
