DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. -- The male pedestrian who was struck and kill on the Saw Mill River Parkway in Dobbs Ferry on Wednesday night has been identified as Hever Letona of Elmsford, according to Westchester County Police.

Letona, a 42-year-old Peruvian immigrant, lived at 205 Saw Mill River Road in Elmsford, police said.

Letona ran across the parkway from west to east against the light, according to witnesses, one of whom was an off-duty NYPD officer. He made it across the southbound lanes but was struck by a car that was traveling northbound, police said. He went into cardiac arrest at the scene and CPR was performed by police officers and members of the Dobbs Ferry Volunteer Ambulance Corp. He was taken to St. John’s Hospital in Yonkers where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of that vehicle, a 38-year-old driving a 2013 Toyota RAV4, remained at the scene and cooperated with officers, police said, adding that drugs or alcohol do not appear to be involved at this time, and that no summonses or charges lodged have been lodged against the driver.
