The Pace Academy provides the Pace University community with programs and projects that foster research and scholarship designed for advancing policies and practices for a just and sustainable environment.
Its staff includes Michelle Land, director; Donna Kowal, staff associate; and Caroline Craig, research assistant.
The Pace Academy also appoints two senior fellows for term appointments. Current senior fellows are John Cronin and Andrew Revkin.
With an interdisciplinary approach at the core of its diverse programs, the Pace Academy offers a variety of curricular, scholarly, policy, and experiential, practice-based opportunities for our students and faculty, as well as the broader community.
Its major programs include the Environmental Policy Clinic; the Annual Awareness Campaign and Mock Legislative Hearing; the Environmental Consortium of Colleges and Universities; The Visiting Fellow Program; and the newly created Pace Academy Professional Mentoring Program.
Many Dyson students have participated in the environmental policy clinic, where they develop policy for real-world non-profit and governmental clients, and build important professional connections to internships and job opportunities.
The Pace Academy will be within the new Dyson College Institute for Sustainability and the Environment, on the Pleasantville campus at the site of the relocated Environmental Center.
The overall mission of the Institute is to bring together faculty, students and programs involving environmental and sustainability issues located throughout the university.
The Institute is also the home of the new Environmental Studies and Science Department, led by Melanie DuPuis, and the Dyson College Nature Center, led by Angelo Spillo.
