NWH Doctor Discusses 3D Computer Modeling For Knee Replacements

According to Yasgur, the key to a successful total knee replacement is the perfect installation of a knee implant.

With 3D computer modeling technology being used at Northern Westchester Hospital, total knee replacements have the potential to last 20 to 35 years.

This technology provides Yasgur the option to rotate models in ways that he never could before. "With this advanced technology, patients get a better aligned prosthesis that is more accurately sized and better installed, in less time," said Yasgur.

Yasgur also shared that through the use of 3D computer technology, patients often spend 15 to 20 minutes less time in surgery. “That reduces the risk of infections, bleeding, and other complications.” And with a quicker, less traumatic surgery, recovery time can be notably smoother and shorter as well.

He is a diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners and is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
