Hudson Valley Graphic Design, a firm based in Croton-on-Hudson, has been instrumental in creating a unique brand for blackwalnut, a set fabrication company that was responsible for the design and creation of two studio sets that are being used by NBC in its coverage of the Winter Olympics.

"We are a brand specialist," owner and Croton resident Janeen Violante said. "We specialize in marketing and branding company."

Hudson Valley Graphic Design was hired by blackwalnut, also based in the Hudson Valley, to give it a personal brand.

"We created a marketing strategy with them," Violante said. "We established who they are and where they are going."

Violante said the process involves a lot of brainstorming and listening to the client.

"We put up a cutting edge website that was out of the box," Violante said. "We showed why they are a dynamic company."

For Hudson Valley Graphic Design it was a fabulous opportunity to work with an international company and to play a small part in the Winter Olympics. Violante said she found blackwalnut via referrals.

Violante has been working in the field for 30 years and started her company 10 years ago.

"We are for people who couldn't afford a company in New York City or even a White Plains agency," Violante said. "We bring New York City design with a Hudson Valley price tag. We give mid-level companies an excellent branding at an affordable rate."

Violante said she loves helping companies brand themselves.

"We understand who they are targeting," Violante said. "We formulate pictures, icons and colors to create a visual representation of the brand."

Violante said Hudson Valley Graphic Design prides itself in the partnerships it develops.

"We really listen to them," Violante said. "I like to hear their story of how they got into business. We are there with them for each step. We love working with local companies. It's about understanding who they are and where they want to be. We love helping small companies."
