New State Budget Includes Ethics Provision

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- New York State's new $142 billion spending plan didn't include a minimum wage increase or an easing on property taxes, but it did contain ethics reforms aimed at minimizing political corruption, according to multiple reports.

The ethics reforms will force lawmakers to disclose more information regarding outside income and also mandate attorneys that hold public office to identify clients, WCBS News reported. 

The new budget increased education spending by $1.4 billion, but also included the controversial reforms to teacher evaluations, WCBS News said.
