The New Castle Town Board passed legislation that said vape shops cannot be within 2,000 feet of the lot line of any school. The law also prohibits the establishments of vape shops within 500 feet of any park, playground, library or religious institution and no vape shops can be within 1,000 feet of each other.
"We wanted to address our concerns before these establishments could potentially take root in our community," Councilman Jeremy Saland said. "Limiting our children’s exposure to vape shops and other alternative forms of tobacco use is a large piece of the addiction puzzle."
