PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The Memorial Plaza parking lot will temporarily close for a repaving project beginning Thursday afternoon.

Town Clerk Judy Weintraub said the re-paving will begin at approximately 2 p.m. and the plaza is scheduled to re-open a week later on the morning of Aug. 16. The construction will shift about 108 permit holders to the Cooley, Rebecca and Hopper street parking lots.

Weintraub said temporary parking permits for those lots have already been directly mailed to Memorial Plaza permit holders. The permits will be valid Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. All permit lots are free after 3 p.m. and free on weekends.

The re-paving will be suspended Saturday so Pleasantville can hold its weekly farmers market in the plaza. Weintraub said parking will be limited in the plaza Saturday but patrons will be directed to the Cooley Street parking lot behind the post office, where there will be 80 spaces available.

The Cooley lot can be accessed from Bedford Road at Cooley Street and Manville Road, and walking through the post office driveway will take residents directly to Memorial Plaza.
