Nick Serio said ESPN has been "going non-stop" about New Rochelle resident Ray Rice as well as Adrian Peterson and Jameis Winston and he was fed up.
"They forget that Jameis Winston is only 20 years old," Serio said. "I'd like to see what some people in the media were doing and saying when they were 20."
With Peterson, Serio said the media has been quick to demonize him, but no one has focused on his state of mind or his upbringing.
"That man needs help," Serio said.
Al Piascik said he wishes the media would cover athletes who play the game right or contribute positively to the community. Piascik said this would give kids someone to look up to.
"Eli Manning and his wife give millions to a pediatric center and are involved with Guiding Eyes for the Blind," Piascik said. "But all we hear about is Ray Rice."
Both said they are disappointed that Derek Jeter's impending retirement has been overshadowed by all the coverage of football players behaving badly.
