PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. Need a question answered at village hall? Today The Daily Pleasantville launches the first of an occasional series of stories intended to help the public navigate village hall.
Every other Monday, the Pleasantville Village Board of Trustees meets to discuss important manners in Pleasantville. The meetings are open to the public, but can also be viewed in a more tech savvy manner.
Pleasantville Community Television, PCTV, airs the meetings live (Cablevision channel 76 and Verizon channel 36) so residents can watch from the comforts of their homes. A hotline is also made available for residents to call in during the meeting in order to ask questions.
"We air all of our meetings live on television to make it another option for our residents and it also archives them so that they can view them at a later date if they wish," said Patricia Dwyer, Pleasantville Village Administrator.
The meetings are aired for the convenience of Pleasantville residents and the board realizes that not everyone can make it to the meetings. The PCTV website archives all meetings and is also airs the meetings live as well.
In addition to the Board of Trustees meeting, some other important meetings that may be aired are the Zoning Board and Planning Commission.
Agendas for all of the meetings can be found online at Pleasantville's website, www.pleasantville-ny.gov . The agenda for the Board of Trustees meeting is usually posted the Friday before the meeting, while the Planning Commission and Zoning Board post their agendas 10 days in advance.
"We try to post these agendas early and as explicit as possible with what we're doing just so we can let people know what will be the subject(s) of our meetings," Dwyer said.
If the public has any questions about agendas or other information regarding the Board of Trustees, they should contact Village Clerk Judy Weintraub at (914) 769-1975. For questions regarding the Zoning Board or Planning Commission, the public is urged to contact Michael Testa at (914) 769-1926.
