Greenburgh Town Board To Hear From Potential Buyers Of Frank's Nursery Site

GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- There are at least two prospective buyers of the former Frank's Nursery property. The property was seized by the Town of Greenburgh for unpaid taxes four years ago.

Details about the purchase offers are expected to be announced to the public on June 15 during a meeting of the Greenburgh Town Board.

During the 8 p.m. meeting at Greenburgh Town Hall, the board will hear from real estate broker Harold Bordwin about offers to buy the seven-acre site at 715 Dobbs Ferry Road.

In 2014, the Town Board hired Keen Summit Capital Partners LLP to sell the idle Frank’s Nursery property. Bordwin, a former resident of Edgemont, is a principal at Keen and has been asked to provide the town with an update on the offers.

Greenburgh Supervisor Paul Feiner said the town has received two written offers, one for an assisted living facility and another for an independent living senior housing facility. The town also received a verbal offer for the land to be used for a self-storage facility. Feiner said he expects another written offer "on or about the 15th."

Feiner said the Town Board will discuss the pros and cons of each of the offers at the June 15 meeting. The following day, Feiner said, he anticipates the board will authorize Keen to negotiate the best possible deal with one or two preferred purchasers.

In January, the Greenburgh Town Board authorized additional environmental testing at Frank's Nursery. An auction of the property was delayed in 2014 because some potential bidders wanted more information on the extent of the cleanup at Frank's as required by the state Department of Environmental Conservation.
