First Heat Wave May Sizzle Pleasantville

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Potentially record-breaking heat is headed for Westchester County this week, with temperatures expected to soar into the 90s on Wednesday and Thursday.

Daytime highs should reach 95 degrees in Westchester with overnight lows of about 70 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

Those high temperatures combined with dewpoints in the upper 60s will result in a heat index in the 100- to 104-degree range during the afternoon and early evening on both days. A heat advisory will likely be issued during those hours. Temperatures will drop to the mid 80s by Friday.

Check this website later this week for information on cooling centers and other ways to beat the heat.

Temperatures should hover at about 80 degrees through the weekend. The weather service also says there's a chance for thunderstorms Friday.
