As of 2 p.m. Monday, Route 120 remained closed between Marcourt Drive and Kipp Street as crews worked to remove the pole, which took wires down with it when it fell. Police said the exact reason for the pole’s fall was not known, but it did not involve a traffic accident.

Police were advising motorists to seek alternate routes for crosstown traffic, such as: Roaring Brook Road to Route 120 or Kipp Street to Douglas Road to Hardscrabble Road to Route 120.
