Gamechanger's 4th Annual Children's Book Drive collected a record-breaking 4,500 books from drop-off locations across the county in May. The books will provide easier access to literature for the underprivileged children attending the camp. Each child will be able to take home eight books.
“This will give our summer book giveaway the kind of boost it needs. The kids will love them. Over 4,500 books means that each camper will get several books to build their home library,” says Vince Canziani, Director of the Wagon Road Day Camp.
Businesses who collected books include:
- All Good Things, Golden Horseshoe Shopping Center, 1074 Wilmot Road, Scarsdale.
- Ardsley Diner, 731 Saw Mill River Road, Ardsley.
- Billy’s Hair Salon, 23 East Main Street, Mt. Kisco.
- DeCIcco & Sons Supermarket, 17 Maple Avenue, Armonk.
- Euro Pizzeria. 103 North State Road, Briarcliff.
- Mt. Kisco Seafood. 477 Lexington Avenue, Mt. Kisco.
- The Office of Dr. Kathy Hirsch. 153 Main Street, Mt. Kisco.
- Walgreens. 411 King Street, Chappaqua.
Barnes & Noble of Eastchester also helped to support the literacy program at Wagon Road Day Camp. For one week, customers could use a special Gamechanger voucher in any book purchase at Barnes & Noble to donate a portion of the purchase to the literacy program at the Wagon Road Day Camp.
