22 Enterovirus Cases Confirmed In Westchester

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- The New York State Department of Health has confirmed 22 cases of  enterovirus D68 in Westchester County, according to LoHud.com.

Of the 22 cases confirmed, more than half suffered from asthma, LoHud.com reported. 

Enterovirus D68 is a respiratory illness that is transmitted through contact with an infected person or by touching infected surfaces before making contact with the mouth, nose or eyes. Symptoms include fever, runny nose, sneezing, coughing, and body aches. 

Overall, 472 confirmed cases of EV-D68 have been confirmed in 41 states and Washington, D.C., LoHud.com said.
