Officials with Con Edison initially said Thursday evening customers could expect full power restoration by Nov. 9, however, by Friday morning those estimates were pushed back to Nov. 11.

Back-up crews specializing in tree cutting, repairing overhead lines and underground equipment, as well as damage assessment, are arriving in Westchester for assignment, the company indicated.

“Con Edison is marshalling resources from near and far to conduct the largest customer restoration in its history,” said Con Edison officials in a press release. “Contractors and mutual aid crews have been arriving or are en route from across the country.”

More than 139,000 customers out of 348,198 total customers served by Con Ed in Westchester are out of power as of 5 a.m. Friday, down from more than 165,000 customers Thursday morning.

The previous record number of storm outages in Con Edison territory occurred in 2011, when Hurricane Irene caused about 203,000 customers to lose service, according to the release.

Authorities are asking customers to report outages and downed wires to Con Edison and not through local emergency service lines. Customers can call 1-800-75-CONED (1-800-752-6633). When reporting an outage, customers are asked to have their Con Edison account numbers available and report whether their neighbors also have lost power. Customers who report outages will be called by Con Edison with their estimated restoration times as they become available, according to a press release. ??
