PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – A Pleasantville man was recently recognized as one of eight U.S. Army ROTC Cadets to be honored for individual accomplishments during a ceremony from the U.S. Army Cadet Command Leader Development and Assessment Course, according to an announcement from Joint Base Lewis McChord.
Cadet Zachary Colangelo, a Pleasantville native, is a student at Bucknell University. He was recognized with the top male Army Physical Fitness Test score in his regiment. His APFT score was 354.
The LDAC is also known as Operation Warrior Forge 2013.
“The LDAC is not a competition; rather, those with greater skills or experience are expected to selflessly assist comrades to make the entire team succeed,” the Warrior Forge website said. “Only by working together as a team will the Cadets succeed. By the end of LDAC, Cadets will be challenged to put forth maximum effort and carry their new skills with them as they are commissioned as Army officers."
The leadership course is one of the final steps for cadets prior to completing the ROTC program and entering the Army as commissioned officers, the announcement said.
