PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. -- If you're doing some spring cleaning and have a pile of used sporting equipment your kids no longer play with, a Pleasantville organization has an idea.
PleasantvilleRECYCLES is holding its second annual sports equipment collection. The group is looking for bicycles, shin pads, lacrosse sticks, bats and balls. The items will be collected Saturday, April 20, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. in the parking lot behind Henckels adjacent to the ball fields and Pleasantville Department of Public Works, 1 Village Lane.
The collection will take place rain or shine.
Once the equipment is collected it will be sorted and made available to residents for free at the PleasantvilleRECYCLES table on Pleasantville Day, Saturday, May 18. Everything will be given away on a first-come, first-served basis.
Bikes will be donated to the non-profit organization Recycle-a-Bicycle .
“Last year we collected hundreds of pieces of sports equipment and were able to find them all new homes,” PleasantvilleRECYCLES Chair Dan Turner said in a statement. “It was a win–win–win. Some residents were able to get rid of unwanted items cluttering their houses, and others were able to pick up just what they needed without spending a dime. And we were able to keep a lot of items out of the waste stream. We hope to do even better this year.”
PleasantvilleRECYCLES is a group of Pleasantville residents who work to improve and expand recycling in the community.
