Now through Oct. 28, Marian Hamilton needs the community's help by voting to win $25,000 for The Ken Hamilton Caregivers Center. Readers can cast their vote for Marian at www.WomenOfWorth.com, once per email address per day.
"Being one of the Women of Worth will increase awareness of the needs of family caregivers who deal with the daily struggle of caring for a seriously-ill loved one,” Hamilton said. “It will enhance our ability to expand caregiver support services to more families and will also enable the Caregiver Center model to spread to additional hospitals and communities."
Hamilton began the Ken Hamilton Caregivers Center at Northern Westchester Hospital shortly after her husband's death from lung cancer. It was while caring for him that the stress of being both mother and caregiver became increasingly demanding. Inspired by her own challenge and experiences, Hamilton sought to create an oasis for caregivers seeking emotional support during similarly difficult times.
The first-of-its-kind center provides a place of peace within the hospital for caregivers to relax and recharge. Specialized programs offers supportive counseling, help navigating the complex healthcare system, access to community resources and comfort. Importantly, these services are provided for all free of charge. A testament to its success, the Ken Hamilton Caregivers Center has now been replicated by 12 hospitals across the U.S.
Please vote today and every day through Oct. 28 and help ensure the essential work being done at the Ken Hamilton Caregivers Center continues.
