New York Times Spotlights Pelham's 'Friendly Vibe'

PELHAM, N.Y. -- The oldest town in Westchester was featured in The New York Times.

Pelham was settled in 1634 and is the southernmost town in the county. The Times looked at its downtown and its unique housing stock, which features 2,800 single-family homes.

Homes on the market range from $475,000 to almost $3 million.The median sales price for a single-family home during the 12-month period ending Sept. 11 was $921,000, up from $846,000 the previous 12 months, according to the Times.

The Times also spotlighted Pelham's sense of community. Kids walk to school and Pelham is filled with non-profits like the Pelham Art Center, Pelham Children's Theater and Picture House.
