Lasker was the Look Development Supervisor and CG Supervisor for "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2" which is being released on DVD Jan. 28. Lasker, a graduate of Horace Greeley High School, worked on the first Cloudy along with films like "Monster House" and "Hotel Transylvania."
On "Cloudy 2," Lasker helped turn concept art into the final product while also supervising production to make sure "Cloudy" looked as lifelike as possible.
"I knew the language of 'Cloudy,' so it made it easier to roll into this one," Lasker, who worked on the film for 18 months, said.
The goal of the second "Cloudy" was to make the movie bigger than the first.
"The second movie had a lot more everything," Lasker said. "There was a bigger environment and a bigger adventure."
Making things more challenging was that while the first "Cloudy" took place in one town, "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2" took place in several different areas.
"We have four to five different lighting schemes," Lasker said. "We have a breakfast bog. You're creating so many different worlds. 'Cloudy 2' is all about color, there's very saturated color."
Lasker said it's always been her dream to work on a movie like this.
"It's a fun movie," Lasker said. "I worked with fun guys. You have a whole family atmosphere."
Working on a movie involving food does get you hungry, especially when you're building cheeseburger spiders and a river of lasagna.
"I started craving Italian food," Lasker said.
Growing up in Chappaqua, Lasker was a computer junkie who loved movies, growing up on shows like Transformers. At Horace Greeley he took a lot of drawing and art classes before going to Syracuse.
"It's hard to find schools as good as Horace Greeley," Lasker said. "It was a good environment. They fostered art classes that are hard to find at other places."
Lasker's job makes him popular with his daughter and he says he enjoys his job. He said he loves seeing the billboards pop up for his movies.
"I'm probably the cool dad," Lasker said. "Doing what I do his gratifying. I can't complain."
