On Sunday, Oct. 1, runners of all ages will take to the scenic Bronx River Parkway in the health networks' Healing Half. The annual fundraiser will feature both a half marathon and 10K race for registered runners. A USA Track & Field-sanctioned event, the race will include timed awards for finishers ranging from their teens to their seventies.

Beginning in White Plains, the race course will follow the Bronx River Parkway, winding through leafy Westchester as fall foliage begins to appear. Both races are a down-and-back: the quarter marathon will turn around and head north at Crane Road in Scarsdale, while the longer route will continue south to Scarsdale Road in Tuckahoe before returning to the start. Varying between rolling hills and flat ground, the race allows runners to experience one of America's original parkways in a uniquely scenic way.

Drawing participants from across the region, the race's proceeds will support Westchester Medical Center services across the Hudson Valley. The flagship location of a larger health network, Westchester Medical Center is currently celebrating 100 years of care in the community.

Registration for the 10K is open to participants 12 and older, while half marathon racers must be at least 14. Runners must be in good physical fitness and should be able to run the course in no more than four hours, averaging an 18 minute mile. Skateboards, strollers and bikes are not permitted on the race course.

Race fees for the 10K are $40 in advance and $50 on the day of the event. Half marathon fees are $70 until Sept. 30, and $80 on race day.
