105-Ten, which opened last month at 127 Woodside Avenue, has generated rave reviews in Briarcliff and surrounding municipalities with patrons telling owner Tony Fortunate the restaurant is filling a void in the community.

Fortunate launched the restaurant with his partner, Eddie Martinez. 10510 is Briarcliff's zip code.

Fortunate previously ran the Rainwater Grill in Hastings, which he recently sold. He has been working with Martinez for 10 years and said the secret to a successful restaurant is top-notch service and good food.

"We have a great space and a comfortable environment," Fortunate said. "It's aesthetically pleasing."

105-Ten is aiming for that modern urban industrial feel with high brick walls, a 25-foot long bar and three large television screens. Martinez said the menu was like a gastropub.

The restaurant also plans to offer brunch on Sundays and music on Wednesdays and will have 12 beers on tap, including craft beer and 10 wines by the glass, with an extensive wine list for the bottle. In keeping its commitment to shopping local, Captain Lawrence and Yonkers Brewery will be served and the meat comes from an Ossining butcher.

"Everything at 105-Ten will be made to order," Fortunate said. "I only have a small freezer for ice cream. We will get deliveries throughout the week. We don't have a microwave."

The menu will feature items like fried avocado, Ahi tuna, chopped cobb salads and lobster mac and cheese, South American Sea Bass, steak frites, along with burgers, sandwiches and daily blackboard specials.

Martinez said patrons love the tuna tacos and burgers.

Looking to be family friendly, 105-Ten offers a kids menu, with a $1 from every kids menu going to a local pediatric cancer charity, and Fortunate plans to offer discounts to Briarcliff's volunteer firefighters.

Fortunate said he is impressed with how community oriented Briarcliff is.

"People come in here and they know each other which is great," Fortunate said. "When we opened the door, people just walked right in."

Fortunate said he intends to make 105-Ten a place where the community can hold events.
