Local Element: The Jacob Burns Film Center begins highlighting filmmakers from Westchester with the launch of its new series Local Element: Works from a Westchester Perspective. The series will kick off with a screening of "My Comic Shop DocumentARy," a film by Hartsdale resident and Pace Law School graduate Anthony Desiato. Jacob Burns Media Arts Lab, 405 Manville Road.

Sounds of Summer: 7:45 p.m. The Jacob Burns Film Center will screen documentaries about South African singer Miriam Makeba and American band LCD Soundsystem. 364 Manville Road.

Searching for Sugar Man: 7:30 p.m. The Jacob Burns Film Center continues its Sounds of Summer: New Music Documentaries 2012 series with a showing of "Searching for Sugar Man."
