Pleasantville Fire Department Band Concert: 7:15 p.m. Front lawn of the Mount Pleasant Library. In the event of inclement weather the concert will be held in the community room. 350 Bedford Road.

Local Element: The Jacob Burns Film Center begins highlighting filmmakers from Westchester with the launch of its new series “Local Element: Works from a Westchester Perspective.” The series will kick off with a screening of "My Comic Shop DocumentARy," a film by Hartsdale resident and Pace Law School graduate Anthony Desiato. History of the Jersey Shore: 7 p.m. Author and photographer Kevin Woyce will lead a lecture on the history of the Jersey Shore, such as why there is an elephant-shaped building in Margate or a concrete ship in Cape May. 350 Bedford Road.

Sounds of Summer: 7:45 p.m. The Jacob Burns Film Center will screen documentaries about South African singer Miriam Makeba and American band LCD Soundsystem. 364 Manville Road.

Thursday, July 19

Searching for Sugar Man: 7:30 p.m. The Jacob Burns Film Center continues its Sounds of Summer: New Music Documentaries 2012 series with a showing of "Searching for Sugar Man." Following will be a question and answer with filmmaker Malik Bendjelloul, film subject Rodriguez and New York Times critic Janet Maslin. 364 Manville Road.
