The free event features hands-on projects for all ages from stop-motion animation and light-painting to iPhone photography lessons and a visual scavenger hunt. Included in the festivities are snacks, raffles, and prizes, all in celebration of the film center's new education platform, the JBFC’s Visual Glossary.

The glossary  -- the first of its kind, according to the film center -- uses film clips to define, explain, and demonstrate film terminology. Both the Visual Glossary and the website’s View Now Do Now mini-projects, which use photo, text, or video to inspire thought and media creation, are perfect activities for parents and children to do at home, as well as students and teachers to do in the classroom. (P.S. You can make scary silhouettes just in time for Halloween!)

The event is being held at JBFC’s Media Arts Lab at 405 Manville Road. Call 914-773-7663 for more information.
