Ramapo Police Arrest Man After Domestic Altercation

RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Ramapo police have arrested a man following an incident in which he allegedly choked his girlfriend, authorities said.

Police responded to a reported domestic dispute early Saturday, according to officials.

A woman said that during an argument with her boyfriend, he had assaulted and choked her, resulting in injuries, police report.

Officers investigating the incident located the man and took him into custody; he was arraigned in Ramapo Justice Court and has been ordered to appear later this month, police report.

Ramapo police investigated four motor vehicle accidents on Saturday: two on Route 17 in Sloatsburg, and one apiece on Francis Place in Monsey and North Airmont Road in Montebello.

No one was injured in any of the accidents, according to police.

Officers responded to 105 calls for service Saturday, rendering assistance in eight medical emergencies, 18 alarm activations and four fire calls.

A total of three arrests were made, including the suspect in the domestic dispute.

The other cases included petty larceny and disorderly conduct, according to officials.
