Police Dispel Rumor Of Gun Threat At Spring Valley High School

SPRING VALLEY, N.Y. – Spring Valley police were questioning students after a rumor circulated that someone had bought a gun into Spring Valley High School, News12 reported Wednesday.

Police say they didn't find the rumor of a gun at Spring Valley High School to be credible. District officials remained on high alert however, especially in light of a recent assault and stabbing at the school.

Even though police said they found nothing solid to back up the rumor, district officials remained vigilant about the potential for violence, especially in light of a recent assault at the school, the News12 story said.

The student who was attacked defended himself by stabbing the other student with a pencil, media reports said.

There have been no arrests in that case, News12’s report said.
