Police find man they said tried to kick in Westwood woman’s door

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: What originally was thought to be a home invasion apparently was a domestic incident in which a man tried to kick in his ex-girlfriend’s front door, Westwood Police Chief Frank Regino told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

The incident, which occurred on Westwood Avenue about 10:40 a.m., quickly brought police.

By then, the man was gone.

Robert Driscoll, 49, of Spring Valley, faces charges of burglary, criminal mischief and simple assault, with a bail of $25,000.

The more than 6-foot-tall, crew-cutted Driscoll was stopped by Ramapo police after Westwood authorities issued a description of him and a white Lincoln Town Car with New York license plates that he was driving.

“We don’t believe it’s a home invasion at this point,” Regino said shortly before he was found. “Looks more like a boyfriend/girlfriend dispute.”
