MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. -- Christina Dochtermann, an avid volunteer throughout Northern Westchester, will co-host a community education session "Concussions and The Youth Athlete" on Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. at Northern Westchester Hospital.
This discussion, part of the hospital’s ongoing speaker series, will focus on sports and recreation-related brain injuries, specifically concussions, among children and adolescents. Parents, coaches and athletic trainers are all encouraged to attend.
Expert speakers will include Dr. Victor Khabie, chief of sports medicine of Northern Westchester Hospital; Dr. Jim Dwyer, chief of emergency medicine of Northern Westchester Hospital; and Dr. Anna Alshansky, pediatric neurologist of the Mount Kisco Medical Group and Adam Cohen, PT, DPT.
Dochtermann has been involved with NWH for more than 11 years as part of the president’s council, fundraising events, and numerous other hospital initiatives.
She actively contributes to Bedford Central School District (BCSD). She is a member of their Wellness Council, founder of the BCSD Elementary BikeRun and is the current co-president of the Fox Lane Middle School Association. She is also a past president and 17 year member of the Junior League of Northern Westchester.
"Northern Westchester Hospital is the single most important not-for-profit entity within our community," Dochtermann said.
“As we volunteer our time and share our resources, we all need to remember the importance of NWH as a center for medical excellence and extraordinary patient-centered care.”
Dochtermann resides in Bedford Hills with her husband and two sons.
Tickets for the discussion are $10 per person.
