The program helps individuals learn about networking skills and how to conduct themselves when looking for employment.

The most recent graduates, a class of 20 unemployed individuals, completed their specialized career readiness training on July 29 at Westchester Community College, where employers from the healthcare industry gathered to meet them.

The graduates approached the recruiters with their networking skills. Many graduates left with business cards and interviews lined up. So far, 141 individuals have graduated from seven boot camps throughout the Hudson Valley. Over 40 people have been hired, and another 60 are pursuing additional specialized training.

The program is funded through a federal Ready to Work grant led by Westchester County and managed by the Westchester County Association. Employers who attended the graduation to meet potential job candidates include Cabrini Healthcare, NewYork-Presybyterian/Hudson Valley Hospital, NewYork-Presbyterian/Lawrence Hospital, Memorial Sloan Kettering, ENT & Allergy Associates, Montefiore Health System, VNS Westchester, WESTMED, and Boston Children's Health Physicians.
