WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Thanks to the rise of online video content from media outlets like BuzzFeed, other news organizations are looking at motion pictures as a potential area for growth, according to The New York Times.

Over the past few years, major media outlets like CNN, Condé Nast and Newsweek have launched divisions aimed at longer-form documentary-style films that are intended to be screened in cinemas, The Times said. 

The price to produce these films vary greatly. Some will be completed on a shoestring budget while others could cost millions, The Times reported.
