PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. -- Customers might do a double take the next time they enter the Iron Horse Pleasantville.

The restaurant, a favorite in Pleasantville since it opened at 20 Wheeler Ave., has undergone an extensive remodeling after Andrew Economos, a Scarsdale resident, took over full ownership of the restaurant a year ago from Phil McGrath.

Economos also opened a second location in Larchmont at 141 Chatsworth Ave., replacing Palomino Restaurant.

"It was a nice transition," Economos said. "It was smooth and handled well."

The Iron Horse celebrated its new look with a grand opening on Feb. 27.

New initiatives at the restaurant include live music on Mondays featuring Bob and Norm of the Powderfingers and Jamie Diaz on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

The restaurant also launched its Crossroads of America menu, highlighting a different city's food each month. Previous cities have included New Orleans, San Antonio, Boston and Seattle.

March is Miami and features items like Bavette Steak Chimichuri, Banana Leaf Wrapped Snapper and fried local chicken.

Economos said it was simply time for a change at the Iron Horse.

"It was tired looking," Economos said. "The look had been around for a while and it needed a facelift."

The bar at the Iron Horse is now a horseshoe shape, which Economos said makes it more friendlier and social bar. A wine cabinet was also installed in the main 63-seat dining room.

Iron Horse continues to draw from its proximity to the Jacob Burns Film Center, which is right around the corner.

"We think we have a nice location," Economos said. "We have a pre-theater menu and we have people who come in for the drink after the movie."

One thing that hasn't changed at the Iron Horse is it focus on farm-to-table American cuisine.

So far, the changes at the Iron Horse have been met with applause from its loyal diners.

"We've been well received," Economos said. "We have a very experienced wait staff that stayed loyal to us. My maitre d' is  the best in New York."
